The Socks
Chapter 6
When Katie woke the next morning, her roommate, Patty was gone. Her bed was neatly made as if no one had ever slept in it. Katie had slept soundly and had not heard when the nurse woke Patty and prepared her for Mind Cleansing. “Where is Patty?” Katie asked sheepishly when the nurse arrived to check on her. The nurse smiled.
“She is at the Mind Cleansing Suite.” She checked her watch. “I imagine she has been in the chair for about 20 minutes.” Katie almost wanted to cry. When she had arrived, Patty had been kind and had helped her adjust to her new life at the Asylum. Before being committed, Patty had been an investment banker, but the stress of her job lead to abusing alcohol and her family made the difficult decision to commit her. Patty had responded well to treatment at the Asylum. She did not have access to alcohol, so she dried out. Like all of the other patients, she received medication and conditioning to help reduce her stress levels. By the time that Katie became her roommate, Patty was a much kinder and gentler person than she had been two months before. Dr. Williams believed that with proper medication, she could be discharged, but Patty wanted to make sure that she would not relapse. She began asking if she was a candidate for Mind Cleansing. She was persistent and finally Dr. Williams agreed provided he had approval from her family. After speaking with her sister, the paperwork was signed and Patty was scheduled for mind cleansing. She was both excited and nervous.
In the days leading up to her first session, she had discussed her feelings with Katie. The process bothered Katie. After seeing Mindy being prepared for mind cleansing, she had become nervous and expressed her concerns to Patty. Patty dismissed them with a smile. What could be better than living in perfect contentment without the burden of memories and stress. She welcomed the process and urged Katie to reconsider her reservations. When the nurse came to shave Patty’s head and fit her with a treatment cap, Katie had to be sedated. Dr. Williams decided that Patty’s first session should be scheduled early, while Katie was still asleep. As so it was.
After watching another patient undergo Mind Cleansing, Patty happily climbed into the padded chair. The nurse secured her body with the Velcro straps and placed a ball gag in her mouth. “Now, 5621, we are ready to begin. I a couple of moments, the mind cleansing sphere will lower over your head and lock into place. It will then begin to scan your brain to locate the centers of pleasure, memories, and decision-making. Your pleasure centers will be stimulated while memories and decision-making are targeted to be disabled. You will feel pleasure, but also some pain. Please try not to move too much so that the machine can do its work. When it has finished, the cleansing sphere will unlock and lift. At that point, your first session will be complete. Do you have any questions?” Patty shook her head in the negative. The nurse stepped back and gave the technician a thumbs up. He activated the sphere and it began its slow descent. It covered Patty’s head and locked into place with a click. It then began to hum. Patty’s first sensation was a pleasant vibration and then a headache. She struggled a bit against her restraints, but soon drifted off and her body relaxed. Using electrical impulses, the sphere targeted the portions of her brain that seemed to contribute to her stress. Those portions needed to be destroyed. Like most patients undergoing Mind Cleansing, Patty lost control of her bladder and peed in her diaper. When the sphere lifted, Patty had a dumb smile on her face.
“How are we feeling princess?”
“I feel wonderful.” She knew the nurse had a name, but she could no it. In fact, none of the people in the room looked familiar. The nurse helped her out of the chair and into her wheelchair.
“You need a nice, long nap.” Patty smiled. Her head felt so empty. Before mind cleansing, her mind had been full of ideas and memories and now it felt empty. She just wanted to obey. But she felt really sleepy. The nurse took her to her new room in the mind cleansing section. Her new roommate was 5629, who had completed her third session of mind cleansing. Her stress score was down to a 12. The Asylum liked to have a patient’s stress level down to a range of 5-10, so Mindy’s was just slightly above where it needed to be. A final session should drop it into the desired range. Both girls had also experienced a noticeable drop in their IQ’s. It was nice being with another patient who had experienced mind cleansing. The nurses worked with both girls to begin to fill their empty minds with proper thoughts of obedience.
Dean Watson listened carefully to Madison. The notion that her old sorority was being subverted by a nurse from the Rosewood Asylum seemed like fiction, but Madison’s concerns seemed genuinely held and Dean Watson could not dismiss them. “I think I need to make a visit to Gamma Nu,” Marie said. “I appreciate you coming to my office and letting me know. For now, go back to the house and keep our conversation to yourself.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” Madison said. “We have another house meeting tonight with the new alumnae advisor, Nurse Lydia.”
“Who?....I thought your alumnae advisor was Mindy Watkins?”
“It was until she was committed to the Asylum three weeks ago. Elizabeth and Katie said that Mindy had experienced a nervous breakdown and had been transferred to the Asylum for treatment. Now, both of them are patients there as well. The strange thing is that more and more of our sisters are becoming patients.”
“This is worse than I thought. I will stop by the house tomorrow morning and talk to this Nurse Lydia. Will do be there tomorrow morning?”
“Yes, Ma’am, my first class is not until 2:00pm.”
“Great. I will talk to you after I speak to Nurse Lydia.” Madison left and headed back to Gamma Nu. The house meeting was scheduled for 7:30pm and it was mandatory. On the one hand she felt like she was betraying the trust of her sorority sisters by talking to Dean Watson. On the other, she was scared by what was happening at Gamma Nu. The sisters filtered into the conference room as 7:30pm approached. Madison took her seat near the back. She sat next to her big sister, Molly.
“Why are we having another mandatory meeting?” Madison whispered.
“I’m not really sure. Probably because Nurse Lydia wants it.” About that time Nurse Lydia entered pushing Nicole in a wheelchair. Nicole looked completely docile but had a smile on her face. Nurse Lydia had returned to wearing her nurse’s uniform.
“Good evening, Ladies,” Nurse Lydia said. “Thank you for being here. Her treatment has been going well and I anticipate that she will be transferred to the Asylum in the next couple of days. As I mentioned, all of you will undergo a stress evaluation to determine your stress level and whether and what type of treatment are needed. Nicole helped me select the next person to be evaluated.” Nurse Lydia looked down on her clipboard. “Madison Hartley.” Molly looked to her left.
“Wow, aren’t you the lucky one.” Madison’s face went ashen. All eyes turned to Madison. She felt like she could slip off her chair onto the floor.
“Madison, please come forward.” Madison stood and made her way to the front of the room. “Please come with me and we will get you prepared.” Madison did not know what to do. She did not want to panic, so she figured she would play along. Certainly, she could hold out until tomorrow when Dean Watson came by. Nurse Lydia led her up to the room that she had been using for treatment. Madison took a seat. She was amazed at the equipment that Nurse Lydia had put in place, including two hospital beds, an IV stand and other electronic monitors. “Let me get Nicole situated first.” Madison watched as Nurse Lydia helped Nicole out of the wheelchair and up onto one of the beds. She laid her back and Madison noticed, for the first time, that Nicole was wearing a diaper. It crinkled when she moved her legs. Nurse Lydia removed the wet diaper and replaced it with a fresh diaper. This elicited giggles from Nicole.
“That tickles,” she cooed. Madison could not believe what she was seeing. Nicole sounded like a baby, but she was a senior majoring in applied math. Nurse Lydia fastened the diaper and then prepared a syringe.
“Now, sweetie. It’s time for your bedtime medicine.” The nurse dabbed her arm with a wipe and then injected the medication. Nicole instantly relaxed. “Feeling sleepy?” Nicole nodded and Nurse Lydia helped her lay back on the bed. She removed her sneakers and helped her under the covers. “Now then, let’s get you ready.” She pulled out a fresh pair of latex gloves and put them on. She then reached into a drawer and pulled out a new pair of white crew socks and handed them to Madison. The moment that Madison touched them, her battle was lost.
The socks used by Dr. Williams to begin treatment with his patients contained a highly concentrated neurostimulator designed to target the pleasure centers of the brain. The socks were infused with this medication. When touched, the medicine immediately penetrated the patient’s skin and flowed into her blood stream and directly to the brain creating sensations very similar to orgasm. The secondary effect was to sedate the patient and to make them submissive and compliant. Madison was experiencing the most sustained orgasm she had ever felt. “They feel so good,” she said. Nurse Lydia smiled, having seen this identical reaction play out time and again.
“Good girl. Just relax and enjoy.” Every cell in Madison’s body screamed at her to put the socks on and she did. Luxuriating in the pleasure. Her body still quivering.
“May I take my clothes off?”
“Of course, dear. I have a nice comfortable uniform ready for you to wear.” As Madison removed each article of clothing the cool air seemed to fuel the sensations of pleasure. Nurse Lydia helped Madison onto the other bed and helped her lay back. She watched as Madison’s toes curled inside her new socks. “Let’s get you into a nice fresh diaper.” She applied some baby powder and then slid a new diaper under Madison’s behind and then fastened it. “There now. Much better.” Soon Madison was in her uniform. “How does that feel sweetie?”
“It feels wonderful.”
“From now on, you will refer to me as either ‘Ma’am’ or ‘Nurse’”.
“Yes, Ma’am.” Nurse Lydia gave Madison the Patient Code of Conduct and she signed it. She was now designated as Patient No. 5643.
“I was going to wait until tomorrow to do your first treatment, but starting tonight makes more sense.” She inserted an IV port into Madison’s arm and then started the drip. She then placed a VR headset on Madison and activated its programming. As Madison lay back, her eyes were fixed on the swirl as it began to empty her mind. There was no struggle. Every thought that entered Madison’s mind was immediately sucked out until it was utterly empty.” When Nurse Lydia looked at the stress evaluation for Madison, it was only a 45. Normally, therapy required at least a 55, but the process was already underway and Nurse Lydia saw no reason to deviate. When the program had run, Madison was exhausted and she fell into a deep dreamless sleep. Tomorrow, 5643 would experience her first full day as a patient. All of her concerns and fears about the takeover of Gamma Nu would be washed away and she would begin to experience the joy of an empty mind.
