The Socks
Chapter 5
Nurse Lydia moved into her new office at the sorority. She decided it was best at first not to wear her nurse’s uniform and opted for business dress. Once she was established, she would resume wearing her nurse’s uniform. Elizabeth had talked about her in such glowing that she was greeted warmly by the of the sorority, who were eager to undergo a stress evaluation and to get proper treatment. After she arrived, Nurse Lydia made arrangements for Elizabeth’s transfer to the Asylum. She would be spending her first night there so that she would be ready to begin treatment the next morning. Elizabeth was relieved that her wait was over. She had been worried that her stress levels might overwhelm her. She changed into her uniform and was helped into the Asylum transport vehicle. She waved to several of her sorority sisters as the van drove away.
Nurse Lydia met with the acting President of the sorority, Nicole, to set up a schedule for stress evaluations. Rather than using the sign up sheet, it was decided that all of the would be required to undergo testing. “I think it would be best for you to be examined first to set an example for the other ,” Nurse Lydia suggested. She was not really asking Nicole, but telling her. Nurse Lydia had discovered that a strong hand worked best when working with new patients.
“Absolutely,” Nicole said. Nurse Lydia reached into a box under her new desk and pulled out a pair of new white crew socks for Lydia.
“Please slip these on.” The moment Nicole touched them, she felt a wonderful sense of peace and pleasure.
“They feel wonderful,” she said as she removed her running shoes and socks.
“They are good for you and will help with your stress,” Nurse Lydia said as Nicole pulled the socks onto her feet. She felt incredible pleasure and knew that removing her clothes was necessary. She stripped and stood in front of Nurse Lydia. “Good girl. It’s time for your examination.” Without prompting, Nicole laid down on the couch and spread her legs so that Nurse Lydia could do a thorough examination. It was clear that Nicole was not a virgin. This angered Nurse Lydia. She could not understand why these women comported themselves as sluts. She opened a small case and removed a device for measuring stress. The device was still experimental but it was showing great promise. She plugged it into the electrical socket and placed the metal skullcap over Nicole’s head. “This will help me measure your stress levels, please hold still.” She activated the device and it gave Nicole a series of electrical shocks into her brain to measure the response. The gage on the device read “82”. On a scale of 0-100, this was considered very high and immediate treatment was essential. Nurse Lydia unpacked a new uniform for Nicole including a new pair of white Keds and helped Nicole slip into it. Her new uniform felt good but her diaper felt odd. She signed her Patient Code of Conduct and was designated as Patient 5640. Nurse Lydia smiled. “I think we need to have a meeting of the sorority to discuss how the stress evaluations will be done.” It was not so much a suggestion as a command.
“Yes, Ma’am.” Nicole left Nurse Lydia’s office and got her laptop. She wrote an email to all sorority notifying them of a mandatory meeting a 8:00pm. Two of the other sisters saw Nicole.
“That is such a cute outfit,” Denise said. Nicole smiled.
“It’s my new treatment uniform. It feels so comfortable. I hope that all of you will be wearing one soon.” Nurse Lydia decided that Nicole should receive her first session of treatment before the house meeting. She set up the IV and soon Nicole was reclined in a chair with the VR headset over he eyes. The medicine flowed into her arm and she dropped into a deep state of relaxation as her brain began to receive its new programming. By 7:00pm, the old Nicole was gone replaced by a relaxed and mindless drone.
“How are we feeling 5640?” Nurse Lydia asked. A lazy smile came to Nicole’s face. She felt wonderful. “This is just the beginning. We own your mind now and we will take good care of it.” When the girls were assembled for the meeting, Nurse Lydia entered pushing Nicole in a wheelchair. There was a collective gasp. “Good evening ladies, I am your new alumni advisor, Nurse Lydia. I will be taking the place of Mindy, who is now receiving treatment at the Asylum. This afternoon, Nicole underwent a stress evaluation and it revealed very high levels of stress. Like Elizabeth and Katie, the only option was to begin her treatment immediately and I am happy to say that she is responding nicely. The purpose for the meeting tonight is to provide you with details on the plan for each and every one of you to have your stress evaluation. These evaluations are NOT optional. They are not completely pleasant, but they are important to your health as I am sure that Nicole would agree.” Nurse Lydia looked down at Nicole who smiled and nodded her head. Her mind was fuzzy, but she knew without question that anything that Nurse Lydia said was the absolute truth. All she wanted was to have more of her medicine and to sleep. “I have selected the next person for evaluation….” The room went silent. “Is Michelle Garner here?” In the back of the room, a hand went up. There was some grumbling among the seniors who could not understand how a new pledge was selected over them. Michelle made her way to the front of the room. She was embarrassed that she had been picked over the seniors and she drew some glares. “Miss Garner, please be in my office tomorrow morning no later than 7:30am. Please do not eat or drink after midnight. The evaluation should take an hour or so.”
“Yes, Ma’am,” Michelle said with her characteristic southern drawl.
“Now, ladies, please be patient and go about your normal schedules. If you develop symptoms of acute stress, please come to my office. Thank you for your attention.” Nurse Lydia pushed Nicole back to the treatment room she had set up and helped her into bed. Nicole was exhausted. It had been a busy day for her and she desperately wanted to close her eyes and relax. Nurse Lydia prepared her second dosage and injected her. Nicole felt a wave of pleasure and her eyes drifted shut. Nurse Lydia placed a pair of ear buds into Nicole’s ears. It was time to let the medicine do its work on her brain.
Elizabeth had been itted to the Asylum and assigned to a room with a woman in her early 40’s. She was surprised because most of the women she had seen were 30 or less. Her new roommate, Caroline, was very nice and the two of them had talked quietly once the nurses had left. Caroline had been a teacher in the local high school and softball coach. She had enjoyed teaching but had trouble keeping up with her workload. Her family physician had referred her for a stress evaluation and it revealed a stress score of 90. Based on that result, she was itted to the Asylum on an emergency basis three weeks ago. The therapy she had received had helped tremendously, especially her sexual therapy. Before coming to the Asylum, Caroline could not the last time she had sex, but since being itted two weeks ago, she had been receiving sexual therapy every day. “I never realized how much sex helps me relax.”
“I know, right,” Elizabeth said. “I am scheduled for another session today with Orderly Michael.” At that moment, one of the nurses entered and game both Elizabeth and Caroline a stern look.
“This is not a slumber party. Both of you are on strict bed rest. Apparently, you need some encouragement.” She stepped over to the cabinet and retrieved two syringes with a blue fluid. “This should help both of you drift off nicely. If I hear any more talking, you will both be punished.” She injected both of them and Elizabeth instantly laid back on her bed. She wasn’t sure what drug she had received, but it felt wonderful. She felt both pleasure and exhaustion. Caroline reacted the same way. “I think two girls need a nap,” the nurse said and she helped both of them under the covered. Caroline’s diaper was soaked, so the nurse changed her. Soon, both of them were deep asleep. Nurse Melanie shook her head. She had been at the Asylum for two years and loved her work. Helping these young ladies rid their minds and bodies of toxic stress was rewarding work. She was often a bit jealous seeing the marvelous results and wondering what it would be like to be so relaxed and happy. She checked Elizabeth’s chart, her stress level was still very high but she had not been designated for Mind Cleansing. Caroline’s chart showed that she was scheduled for her first session of Mind Cleansing in two days.
Katie’s transition to the Asylum had not been as smooth as Mindy’s. It perhaps had been seeing Mindy awaiting Mind Cleansing that had troubled her and made her have second thoughts about being a patient. She wanted help removing her stress, but not anything radical. Up to the point of her ission, she had enjoyed the medication and programming she received and the sexual therapy had been wonderful, but doubts had begun to sink in after she had been at the Asylum for several days. She continued to receive her medication and was getting more than enough sleep, but she could not get the images of Mindy out of her mind. Her nurse warned her that her stress level was increasing rather than diminishing and had flagged her file for review by the doctor.
“This is concerning,” Dr. Williams said as her flipped through the chart of 5634. “I am not seeing the progress that we like to see, nurse.”
“Yes, Doctor. 5634 seems distracted and when she was itted, she happened to see her friend, 5629 being prepared for Mind Cleansing.”
“I see. I suspect she will not agree to Mind Cleansing herself?”
“Not voluntarily.”
“Well, I do have the authority to order it over her objections. Bring her in for me to talk to her. I would also like to arrange for her to see 5629 to see that Mind Cleansing is a positive mode of treatment.”
“Yes, Doctor.” The nurse returned to Katie’s room. She was sleeping after her latest session of sexual therapy. Although she had been apprehensive about having sex with the Asylum staff, after a few sessions, it helped her relax but was no making up for her unwillingness to trust the process. The nurse made some notes on her chart to schedule the counselling session with Dr. Williams for the next day. Her roommate, Patty, was scheduled for her first session of Mind Cleansing early tomorrow. Her head had been shaved and she had been fitted with her cap. She too was asleep, but looking forward to her mind cleansing.
Marie Watson sat in her office on the campus of Northern State College. She had been the Dean of Female Students for almost two years and an assistant dean for eight years before that. Her distinction was that she was the first female Dean of Female Students in the history of the College. All of her predecessors had been men. Needless to say, there had never been any female Deans of Male Students. She took pride in that accomplishment and even more in the fact that she was an alumna of Northern State. It was her favorite time of year. The cooler temperatures of Fall had descended on the campus that the leaves were turning. The Northern State football team had a winning record, although only barely at 5-4. This was going to be her first weekend off in weeks. The deans rotated weekend duty and she had served the past two weekends. It meant camping out in her office waiting to put out fires around the campus like a fraternity party that got out of hand or a fight in one of the dormitories. For the most part, Northern State students were pretty good, but they occasionally needed to blow off steam. The school’s academic standards were pretty high and that brought with it added stress. Marie glanced at the clock; it was almost 4:00pm when her secretary knocked.
“Dean Watson, there is a young lady here who would like to speak with you.” Marie looked at her calendar. No appointments.
“Does she have an appointment? I don’t see anything.”
“No Ma’am. She says it’s urgent.”
“Send her in. What’s her name?”
“Madison. Madison Hartley. She’s a member of the Gamma Nu Pi Sorority.” Marie nodded. When she was an undergrad, she was a member of Gamma Nu. Madison entered and took a seat. The secretary closed the door behind her. It was clear that Madison had been crying.
“Madison, what can I do for you,” Marie asked. Madison wiped back her tears.
“Dean Watson, there is something really wrong at Gamma Nu. I wasn’t sure at first, but someone has to do something.”
“Please tell me the problem, dear.”
“Well, it started several weeks ago……”
