Liber Daemonum
The Book of Demons
Synopsis
Exeter, England
Medievalist Professor Robert Layman goes to the University of Wessex. Amongst other things he arrives to lecture on witchcraft in early Medieval England, and to research St. Richard the Pilgrim, a saint of the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Wessex.
Robert was assigned to the place. He had already been told that his next outing would be to Sudak, in the Crimea. He went where he was directed. He worked for an agency dealing with the supernatural.
At the same time, American student Kelly Lo arrives.
Chapter One
The University of Wessex was all that Kelly Lo had hoped.
The eighteen-year-old Chinese American student had baffled her parents with her fascination with Medieval European History. Naturally, people thought that her interests would be based on East Asian history and culture.
She was bright, intelligent, and had already mastered Latin and Ancient Greek. She was currently working on Classical Hebrew in her spare time.
Her father, Bo (Bernard) Lo, was a successful businessman and had no problems ing his daughter’s academic pursuits, if only a little puzzled like everyone else.
He loved his only child. They were close, as he’d lost his wife Helen shortly after a Caesarean delivery led to a fatal septicemia.
Kelly was only 5′ tall.
She went to stay at Mandeville Hall, a residential college for women.
Her roommate in this college, Grace Smith, was 5′7″ and busty (Grace was studying mathematics). She, too, was not a creature following stereotypes. She looked like she could have been a successful model. She oozed sex. But she was bookish like Kelly.
Both were virgins. Dealing with stereotypes, it was easy to imagine that Kelly was still unsullied. But Grace was someone you would have expected to have lost hers. How can I put this… She looked like a girl who liked to have a good time.
Kelly was an independent thinker. She knew that this might bring her into clashes with professors, but she would not compromise on the truth (as she found it).
Her room at Mandeville Hall was comfortable for both of them. They had a single bed each, rather than bunks, but Kelly’s was up high, allowing a desk space underneath it.
Both young ladies loved tidiness; only Grace was somewhat less organised and appeared a little scatter-brained when it came to the layout of her stuff.
They also had a sink and a full-sized fridge, but amenities were down the hall, shared by the others.
Chapter Two
After her second lecture with Professor Robert Layman, Kelly, already armed with an essay assignment, visited the Green Library (not actually green but named after Sir Wolpoff Green, a nineteenth-century benefactor). She enjoyed the Professor’s talk each time. The lecture theatre was well attended.
The Professor had a young woman sit with him at the front of the room, but he never introduced her.
She noticed a small historic collection of medieval bits and bobs, and a dedication to St. Richard the Pilgrim.
She navigated about when she noticed an illuminated manuscript on central display (inside a glass case).
She went up to it and saw it was hand-scribed in Carolingian minuscule, an old script. She saw a small placard naming it and dating it to the mid-600s. This caught her attention. She raised an eyebrow. “That can’t be right,” she muttered to herself.
“What do you think?” asked a woman.
Kelly jumped.
“Excuse me?” Kelly asked.
“What do you think about the Liber Daemonum?”
“The Book of the Demons?” Kelly asked.
“Yes,” she smiled.
“I don’t think the date is accurate.”
“Oh, and why’s that?”
“It’s placed as the mid-600s, and that’s a century too early.”
“What makes you say that?”
“The earliest works we know using the script are from the mid to late 700s.”
The woman smiled. “I’m Hræfn,” she said, offering her hand.
“Hræfn?”
“Yes, it’s an old Anglo-Saxon word for…”
“Raven?”
“Yes, how rare to find someone who would know…” Hræfn delighted.
“I’m Kelly,” Kelly said.
“Pleased to meet you…,” Hræfn offered her hand (which Kelly accepted).
“Say, weren’t ravens harbingers of death?”
“They still are,” Hræfn smiled wryly.
“Would you like to examine the codex?”
“What?”
“If you like.”
“You can do that?”
“I have some influence here in the library,” Hræfn smiled.
“What? But…?”
“Why you?”
“Yeah?”
“I only allow it to be examined by those who can truly appreciate it.” Hræfn said, “And I believe you’re such a person.”
“Oh, wow.”
“So, if you like, I can let you examine it.”
Kelly looked at her watch.
“You have some place else you’d rather be?”
“No. It’s not that,” Kelly said. “I’ve got plenty of time.”
“Come with me then,” Hræfn said. “I’ll take you to the reading room.”
Kelly followed.
Hræfn held the door open to a small but well-lit room. There was a small table with a book holder.
Attached to the table, on a swing arm, was a magnifying glass with a built-in light.
Two plain chairs faced each other on either side of the table
There was a box also on the table
“There are gloves in the box,” Hræfn said as she left to get the book.
Kelly went in and opened the box. Kelly understood that the soft gloves were used to protect the pages from acids and dirt.
Hræfn, true to her word, brought the book in and laid it down. Kelly was so excited she couldn’t sit down.
She only now noticed the book had a subtitle—an unusual item for such a work.
“Liber Domino Inferno dicatus…,” she gasped. She looked at Hræfn. “A book dedicated to the Lord of Hell?”
“Yes,” Hræfn said. “Open it, let my Lord’s words speak to you…”
Kelly turned the pages. She heard a voice in her head. It whispered.
“What?” Kelly gasped.
She looked at Hræfn, and Kelly rubbed her eyes because for a moment she could have sworn that Hræfn’s eyes glowed.
“My Lord’s words call you,” Hræfn said, “I knew from the beginning you were chosen…”
“Did you say your Lord?”
“Yes, my father Satan,” Hræfn said.
“You’re crazy,” Kelly laughed, but she kept turning the pages.
“Let his power transform you…,” Hræfn said.
Chapter Three
Kelly woke up with a start.
“Are you alright?” Grace asked, looking up from her desk.
“What happened?”
“What do you mean, what happened?”
“You came in last night and crashed.”
“You saw me?”
“No, I saw a ghost… You know I see dead people,” Grace said sarcastically.
“I don’t coming in,” Kelly scratched her head. Kelly looked at the clock. 10 am.
Grace turned back to her books.
“What time did I come in?” Kelly asked.
“It was after eleven,” Grace said.
“Eleven at night?”
“Yessss,” Grace gasped.
“I…,” Kelly began.
“Look, I have to study this, okay?” Grace said.
Kelly relented.
She scratched her chest. She looked down, shocked. Her breasts had gone from 32A to 38C. She pulled back the top of her nightdress and stared down at her breasts.
“What the…?” she gasped.
She wanted to go to the mirror, and as she stood up, she swayed momentarily, disoriented.
She was now taller, too.
She went over to the full-length mirror and drew up her nightdress.
She gasped. Not only was she clean-shaven, but her clit protruded a half inch out like a micro-penis.
“This can’t be…,” she said. She touched it.
“Oooo!” she gasped. Instantly, it felt good.
She touched it again. “Oooo!” she gasped again.
It felt so good, she kept touching it. And she felt warm. She also grew wet.
Grace sniffed. She could smell a strangely intoxicating odor.
“What is that?” she sighed.
She turned to see Kelly furiously strumming her bud.
“What the hell are you doing?” Grace asked.
But Kelly couldn’t hear her. She was caught up in pleasing herself. Her whole body spasmed, and as she peaked, she shot a clear fluid out.
As she did, her sex pumped out pheromones that aroused Grace (without realising it, she grew moist herself).
Grace got up to shake her head. “What’s happening to me?” she gasped. She felt tingly.
Kelly took hold of Grace’s wrists and drew her back to Grace’s bed.
Kelly pushed her down on the bed, making her lie down. Kelly climbed over Grace, straddling her roommate’s face.
“Please, don’t do this!” Grace begged. Droplets hit her mouth, and she instinctively licked her lips.
Her eyes dilated.
Kelly sank her hips over Grace’s face. Grace lapped at Kelly’s juices. It was the best thing she had ever had.
Chapter Four
“Why are we here?” Robert asked as he looked up from his office desk… He had a series of manuscripts strewn across the top. He always looked haphazard.
Elodie B. Gauthier, his travelling companion, was about to speak when she rose and went to the window.
“What is it?” Robert asked.
“A sinister aura emanating from the library.”
At that moment, Kelly raced to the library. She didn’t know if she was angry or shocked.
She started looking for Hræfn by going to the book.
Kelly looked around. She thought she saw a glimpse of Hræfn disappearing down a book aisle.
She ran down after her.
She suddenly found she was in a dark, cavernous place. She looked around, not knowing how she had got there.
Hræfn was there. She was atop a man, riding his cock.
Kelly went to her… “Where am I?”
Hræfn smiled and pulled up off the man.
“This is Omar,” Hræfn said, “He wants your cunt…”
“What?”
“Look at his cock… Isn’t it magnificent…”
Kelly found herself staring.
She found herself salivating and swallowed a mouthful of drool.
“You want it… You want it inside you,” Hræfn purred.
“I…?” Kelly gasped, but she gazed at it and found herself going to him and climbing over him.
Despite his size, she took him in easily.
“Oh, my!” she gasped.
“Take him!” Hræfn urged, kneeling next to them.
Kelly rose and sank on his pole. She gasped at how good it made her feel.
She had a sense that he was quickly approaching his release.
“Feel his power rush into your body!”
Kelly felt it. Not just his explosion but an onrush of energy. His energy. His lifeforce.
She couldn’t stop herself. She milked him of his essence.
It was a minute before she realised what she had done…and what now remained of Omar.
She leapt off him, shocked at his appearance. He was sunken-eyed. Dried out. Dead.
“What the hell did I just do?” Kelly cried. She looked at a bulge in her stomach.
“You took his seed and his life-force,” Hræfn said. She went to embrace Kelly.
“Get away from me!” Kelly slapped Hræfn’s hand away.
“You’re one of us, now,” Hræfn said. “You cannot fight it…”
“One of…? What the hell are you talking about?”
“You’re demonised,” Hræfn said. “You’re a succubus…”
“No…! A what now? This is impossible!”
Chapter Five
Hræfn accompanied Kelly back to her room.
Hræfn wouldn’t leave Kelly alone.
Grace was waiting, anxious, eagerly. She flew at Kelly and embraced her in a ionate hug.
“I was worried where you were, Mistress,” Grace whimpered, smothering Kelly with kisses.
“Mistress?” Kelly gasped as she broke away from Grace’s embrace.
“She’s a minion,” Hræfn said, “You must have fed her your fluids… Now she’s addicted. You can make her do whatever it is you want.”
“Want?” Kelly gasped, “I want my old life back…”
“The book chose you,” Hræfn said. “It’s all part of my father’s plan…”
“You and your father….” Kelly said, annoyed.
“Me and Satan…” Hræfn sighed as she reminisced about her dark Lord.
“Look I’ve never believed in any of that spiritual bullshit! I’m an atheist for goodness’ sake.”
“My father believes in you…”
“What?”
“Your capacity for evil… years ago when you poisoned Beth Harper’s ants at the science fair?”
“How do you know about that?”
“You thought no one noticed? God noticed. And so did my father.”
“ when you spread the rumor that Kate Hinkley had been molested by her brother…?”
“I… No… That…?”
“You did it to ruin her bid for class president…”
“No… That!” Kelly tried to deny it. But she knew it was true. She defamed the Hinkley family name and, at the very least, caused a distraction that drew Kate Hinkley’s attention from campaigning.
“You stole that money from the street performer… You put sugar in Brett Basheart’s gas tank … You…”
“Alright!” Kelly yelled.
Hræfn smiled.
“What is it you want?” Kelly cried.
“You,” Hræfn smiled, and she went to embrace her again.
Again, Kelly rebuffed her. She did not realise she had been transported through to another plane of existence. Hræfn didn’t want anything to disturb them at this moment in time.
“I accept you for the sinner you are, and so does my father. Only when you love Satan will you never have to worry about feeling guilty. Never again. You’ll be liberated.”
Hræfn continued… “You’re smart, you’re sexy… Much more so than before you changed…,” Hræfn continued. Yes, Kelly felt sexier.
“I don’t want any of this!” Kelly gasped. She looked around for a way out.
There was no apparent entrance.
“Let me out of here!” she spat.
“As you wish,” Hræfn said, and a door appeared in the middle of the cavern. Just a door in a doorframe, freestanding. Nothing else around it.
“But when you need to feed again…,” Hræfn mocked as Kelly opened the door and stepped through. She was suddenly back in her room.
Kelly closed her ears to what Hræfn had to say.
Meanwhile, as Robert researched (St.) Richard, Elodie moved around the library. She had a sense of things. She sensed a change in the atmosphere at the psychic level, and although no one else could see, Elodie saw a green light appear from the back of the library.
Elodie proceeded with caution.
She saw a psychic doorway fading. She knew someone had just used it to into this world. She had only just missed seeing Hræfn. But she could smell a demon.
Chapter Six
On her journey of return from the other place, Kelly found herself in he room. She turned around, but there was no sign of the door she’d ed through. Her roommate was there.
Kelly cursed she’d ever met Hræfn.
Grace, naked, rushed to her.
Kelly found herself less inclined to push her roommate away and relented as Grace drew Kelly’s jeans down and pressed her mouth between her legs.
Kelly’s bud throbbed at the ministrations of Grace’s eager, hot tongue.
But it was not enough.
She felt she was hungry. And that meant cock.
She went to a frat house (as they might call it in America), Winston College. She stood on the grass at the side, inhaling the male smells.
She felt a twitch between her legs, and she knew she had to feed.
Rod White came out of the showers, a towel around his waist as he walked back down the hall to his room.
He had just closed the door when he heard a tap on his window.
He was startled to see an Asian woman’s face peering in at him.
“Please, let me in,” Kelly whimpered.
Rod rushed over and opened it, and she crawled in and threw herself into his arms.
“Oh, thank you,” she cried as she held onto him, “I was so afraid!”
“How on earth did you get out there?” he gasped, astonished, as she pressed her hips to his. With her legs wrapped around his thighs, she rubbed herself against his crotch. And she produced such smells that he went hard just inhaling her intoxicating musk.
She smiled as she felt it press against her.
She grinned menacingly as she knew she was drawing him into her web of sin.
“Come, get off me,” he said as she ground against him.
“Please… I need you to…” he began to feebly protest. She pulled at his towel. It fell.
“No, stop that!” he complained.
She slid down a little and took him into her.
“Oh, fuck,” he gasped as her body embraced him.
It was now too late. Too late for him. She ground herself against him and began to feed.
He noticed she seemed heavier. But it was because he was growing weaker.
His knees buckled.
“What are you doing to me?” he cried.
He carried her unsteadily to the bed. He fell back on his ass, and she continued to feed.
“Please,” he wheezed.
She kept riding him. Knowing he was near his peak, she ground down harder.
And then it came… Release. And with it his sexual energy flowed from him into her like a torrent.
She reached her own peak as she was overwhelmed by the inrush of life force.
An hour later, his roommate found Rod gasping.
An ambulance was called.
If it weren’t for his youth, he would have likely ed away. Despite his health, he looked aged. His skin was dry and wrinkly.
In another part of the university, Elodie was alerted to a report on an App.
Chapter Seven
Elodie searched for a demon she knew lurked in the library.
She could see currents of psychic energy converging on the building.
She asked Professor Layman to research the building, as she decided to comb its aisles.
Hræfn watched the petite, attractive woman and sensed a disturbance in the currents of psychic energy. It was, however, a sensation she had never felt before.
It should have warned her. Instead, the sensation fascinated her. Elodie found herself at the book display.
“Hello?” Hræfn smiled.
“Hello,” Elodie replied.
“Are you interested in that book?”
Elodie moved closer to take a better look.
“Liber Boni Pastoris?” she read the Latin, “The Book of the Good Shepherd?”
“No! What?” Hræfn gasped.
She took a look herself, and the demonic book had taken the shape best suited to Elodie (as it had selected the form to draw Kelly and now it had changed again).
Hræfn turned and hissed at Elodie. “What are you?” she growled, her eyes glowing.
Elodie felt a wave hit her, like a hot wind. She prayed, and Hræfn was unable to seduce her.
“What are you?” Hræfn demanded again.
But she had played her hand, revealing herself.
Then Elodie made a strange movement with her hands, and a sword appeared in her hand. She raised it.
“Hell-beast!” Elodie said
Hræfn turned and ran, and as she did, she cast her own incantation and opened the portal door.
She had made a dreadful mistake. Elodie was so close behind that as Hræfn ed through the door, Elodie flung herself forward. Her mystical sword held the portal open, and she entered after the demon.
The demon hissed and circled Elodie.
“What are you?” Hræfn hissed.
“I am a Paladin…,” Elodie said. And as she held the sword in front of her, pointing skyward, suddenly all over her armour pieces flew together to her from nowhere. In an instant, Elodie stood in a suit of silvery armor.
Hræfn reached between her legs and furiously worked her sex.
Elodie smelled the muskiness that wafted up. She took a step backwards and then said another prayer, and her head was cleared.
The she-demon’s main weapon—her sexual desirability had been nullified. And she was horrified.
It had never happened before.
She could not flee anywhere because she was already in her sacred abode and the door was still open. She needed to close it and open a new door to flee.
Hræfn did a few short lunges to bluff Elodie.
Elodie was not fooled.
On the third lunge, Elodie stepped forward and swung, severing Hræfn’s right hand.
Hræfn fell to the ground, clasping the wound as her grey-green blood spilled out onto the cold cavern floor.
“Bitch!” Hræfn hissed.
She thought to beg for mercy, but as she opened her mouth to speak, Elodie did another quick shuffle, as she raised the sword.
Hræfn’s severed head bounced twice.
The body then burst into a green flame.
In an instant it vanished. Hræfn was sent back to hell… and she would never be able to return to our world, ever again.
For a demon that is the death within death. Her satanic father would have no use for a demon that could not bring him corrupted souls.
His punishment would be as cruel as it was endless.
Elodie was now in a bit of a pickle.
She had come through a portal not of her making.
Now, as she looked around, she realized she was stuck. In the explosion of demonic energy, the door had closed. She was stranded.
Chapter Eight
Kelly still attended class. She did so as to size up others to feed from.
She loved cock.
Not only did it feel good, but it also fed her. She had to have it to survive. And in a strange bit of irony that made her, a succubus as drawn to it, as men were drawn to her.
Professor Robert Layman was coming to the end of his role as visiting professor. He gave his final lecture.
He had dealt with a wide range of source materials, including Wakefield & Evans Heresies of the High Middle Ages, and Runciman’s The Medieval Manichee: A Study of Christian Dualist Heresy.
Kelly had attended each lecture, but her attention had moved from his erudite presentations to the testosterone-producing gonads seated around her.
She had sent three guys to the emergency ward with her luscious feeding.
Chad Cooper noticed her. She noticed him noticing because she could see the blood running to his penis.
She followed him down the stairs of the lecture hall, but at the moment he was interested in speaking to the professor. She hung back, opening her legs, ready to produce her intoxicating pheromones.
Chad talked to the Professor who gazed over the student’s shoulder at the woman lurking there.
Kelly noticed him looking at her but sensed he was not interested in her sexually, and this aroused a sense of curiosity in her. For a moment, her brain took her to where her sex didn’t want to go.
They say men are led by their dicks. And this was similar for the young apprentice succubus.
Suddenly the Professor stopped talking.
He made his excuses and left.
Chad turned to see Kelly there and wanted to talk to her, but she instead followed close behind the Professor.
Greg had received a psychic plea for help.
He made his way swiftly to the Green Library and expected to find Elodie there. She had told him she was there.
She spoke in his head as if she were there, talking to him.
“Where are you?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” she said.
She explained she was in the library, but in a parallel space, as well.
She suggested he start with the book on display.
He went to it. It was now a horae, a book of prayers, because it sensed his interest in that.
Kelly watched from a distance and was surprised that the book had changed. She had no idea that was how she had been seduced… the book had appealed to her dark side.
Robert looked at the book and noticed a depiction of a maze. He loved puzzles, and it occurred to him that if the thought of the puzzle laying over a plan of the library, it would indicate a route to take.
Robert Layman figured out that if he took a certain route through the library aisles, he might find the door.
This he did, including going back on one aisle. It was like a strange dance, watched only discreetly by one pair of inhuman eyes.
He went down one aisle, took a left, spun around, and went back, and the door appeared out of nowhere.
He opened it.
“Elodie!” he called.
She came through, and the doorway disappeared.
“Thank you,” she smiled. She gave him a warm embrace. He was not used to her being emotional.
On seeing this, the demon backed away. She was genuinely frightened.
She made her way to her room. Grace was there and made it known she wanted to please her Mistress.
“Leave me alone,” Kelly hissed.
Grace felt hurt, but obediently backed away.
“Mistress?” she asked, watching Kelly with her bag.
“What?” Kelly spat.
“Are you going somewhere?”
“Yes.”
“Where, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“Away from here…”
“But why?”
“I don’t yet fully know what I am,” she said, “Or rather what I’ve become. But I know there is a force out there right now, full of goodness.. And they mean to destroy me…”
“Please, take me with you.”
“Very well…” Kelly thought she could use an ally.
Epilogue
Bo Lo filled out a missing person’s report. His daughter had vanished. She did not take her phone with her. She had emptied her bank .
The police did not take it seriously at first, but Bo soon found out that Grace Smith, his daughter’s roommate, had also vanished he went to the press.
In a bus station in New York, Kelly watched a news report about her and Grace vanishing without a trace, and of the inept local police and their lack of investigation.
“Why have we come here, Mistress?” Grace asked
Kelly turned her attention to an older man in the station with his kids.
“I have a sense that there’s someone here in New York capable of helping me…”
She had a sense that a great dark power existed here in New York. She would seek it out.
The man, in his late thirties, stopped playing with his daughter when he noticed Kelly.
She opened her legs, letting him see her shaven sex.
He put his daughter down. “Wait here,” he said.
He went over to Kelly. “Um, I am sorry to bother you,” he bashfully began.
“Come with me,” Kelly sprang to her feet.
“What?” he gasped.
She grabbed his hand and led him to the men’s washroom.
She was hungry.
She would look for the darkness after she had fed…
