1.
Charlottetown Prince Edward Island
It was a brisk autumn day in the capital of Canada’s smallest province. It was just as Martina Isaiah expected. She should know—for she had been born and raised here. Even better, she had made quite a name for herself here. Indeed, Martina was a regularly working actress and model (and very skilled at both of those jobs).
She had gotten her start right here in Charlottetown as the title role in Emily of Avonlea. It was a story about an imaginative and precious young islander girl who gets in all sorts of adventures with her neighbours. The series detailed her coming of age and the wonders of Island life. After Emily of Avonlea ended she had gone to the United States to make her fortune. Though she was far from a household name, she had been moderately successful. She had started with bit parts in Hollywood blockbusters, and a few leading roles in independent films. Her biggest role yet was as a babysitter who was thrown into action to protect her charges during an alien invasion. She got all the good quips. She had also posed for a few men’s magazines. She didn’t appear nude, but she had worn more than a few sheer tops and bikinis Still, it was much less explicit than many of what other women in the industry were doing and it had allowed her to make a decent if not lucrative living.
She was back in her hometown. Not because she had given up on Hollywood but to give back to the show that had allowed her to become an actress in the first place. Indeed, she was going to reprise her role as Emily Gilbert (nee Montgomery) with one main difference. She would be staring in a sequel miniseries to the beloved Canadian classic. Instead of her character being precocious and imaginative young girl, she would be a wise, well-rounded—but still imaginative adult. Her character was a homemaker with a loving husband and three wonderful kids who had to help save her town from her childhood rival who was back for vengeance.
That said, she was not filming right now. That would begin on Monday. For now she should enjoy the nice weekend and spend some quality time with her family. She smiled as she looked out at the landscape before her. It was so picturesque it belonged on a postcard. Of course that is what many tourists had said about the entirety of the province. She should take advantage of every minute of it while she was here.
2.
That is exactly what Martina did. She did a little sightseeing, had some fun with her family at the local fairgrounds, and took a nice little swim in the local lake. Then she showered and dried off. She was currently wearing a pair of blue jeans and a purple turtleneck sweater, along with a pair of little black running shoes with white socks. Her long black (and still wet) hair framed her attractive face. Her face was pretty impressive two. She had bright blue eyes a cute nose and thick hamster-like cheeks. Martha was 25 years old.
She decided to enjoy more of the beautiful scenery Prince Edward Island had to offer. Indeed, she was on the beach. The sun would be setting in about an hour. She looked out at the ocean and smiled as the waves crashed against the sand. Then she heard a male voice “Emily is that you?”
Startled, Martina looked over her shoulder. She saw a tall skinny man in a white t-shirt and a red bathing suit. He had brown hair, wore glasses and sported a moustache. He was also wearing glasses and leather brown sandals.
“Actually no, I’m not Emily,” Martina explained. “I understand the confusion though, I do play Emily on television.”
“That means you’re Martina Isaiah,” he shrieked with glee. “I can’t believe it! Do you me? It’s Michael, Michael Slink.”
Martina thought for a moment. Then she recognized him.
“Slinky Mikey!” she said as it dawned on her.
“Yeah, that was my nickname in high school,” he conceded. I go by Michael now.”
“Alright Michael,” she said agreeing to call him by his preferred name. It was funny. Michael and Martina had attended the same elementary and high school together (a given considering how small Prince Edward Island was). Unfortunately, Michael always had a habit of losing his balance and would trip and fall regularly. People said he was like a Slinky: not sure what he’s good for, but it’s sure fun to see him fall down the stairs. Moreover, they tried to invoke that by “accidentally” bumping into him, or discreetly tripping him.
Martina, however, had never done any such thing. The only reason she used his nickname was because of its use as a mnemonic device. She actually defended Michael against such teasing. One time when another student “accidentally” tripped Michael, she helped him back up, gave him a hug, and escorted him to the school nurse’s office.
Michael was very grateful for her assistance. So grateful, he had developed a crush on her and started sending her small, but nice gifts. The first one could have been brushed off as a thank you, but subsequent gifts could not. One day he finally asked her out. Unfortunately, for Michael Martina had a boyfriend at that time and she therefore had to turn him down. At first he was heartbroken, but got over it soon enough. The two lost touch after high school: he went his way and she went her s. “So, she asked Michael. “What are you doing now?”
“I am a technical and instructional materials writer,” he responded. “It’s often a solitary job but someone has to do it. It has also allowed me to obtain a decent living despite my shortcomings. I know that you are currently an actress.”
“Indeed, I am,” Martina chirped affirmatively.
“Best of all, you have the talent for it,” Michael complimented. “I knew you did ever since you starred on Emily of Avonlea. I bet you still have it when they release the miniseries.”
“I guess word gets around,” Martina said.
“Quite so,” Michael responded briskly. “Hey do you think you can do me a favour?”
“Depends what,” Martina replied.
“Well,” Michael began. “As you know I really enjoyed your work on Emily of Avonlea, but one episode was always my favourite.”
“Which one?” she asked curious.
“That would be Emily and the Entrancing Antique.”
“Oh really,” Martina giggled. That was the episode in the series last season a little after her character had turned 18. Emily had stumbled onto a new antique store that had opened up downtown. She had met the shopkeeper a seemingly frail elderly man. He had shown her one of the store’s most expensive pocket watches and had hypnotized her with it. Emily had been put under his control, forced to break up with her boyfriend Matthew Gilbert, and steal her parents’ expensive jewelry (and lure other customers to his store). Fortunately, after some heartache and a great deal of ingenuity, Matthew and her sister Shirley had been able to release Emily from her trance and take down the shopkeeper, smashed the pocket watch and chased the man, who eventually fell to his death off of a cliff. It was a weird episode where she did embarrassing as well as criminal things. On the bright side the whole ordeal had caused Matthew to propose. The two ended the series as husband and wife with an unbreakable bond and undefeatable love.
“I received this watch from a dealer and it said it used to be a prop on the show. Could you confirm if that’s true?”
“I’ll do my best,” Martina asserted. “However, that episode was so long ago so I am not sure how much help I will be.”
“I don’t think it will be too difficult for you. All you need to do is look at the watch to determine its authenticity.” He gave the watch (a gold watch on a gold chain), a small tug and it began to move back in forth in front of her eyes. “Yes Martina. All you need to do is look at the watch to realize it’s authentic. Just look at the watch and how it goes side to side. Put everything out of your mind except the watch. Just focus on how the watch is the real deal. How it is an authentic prop from the movie just accept the watch’s authenticity. Just put everything out of your mind except the watch and its power. You will commit to the watch and its power. Say it.”
“I will commit to the watch and its power,” she responded flatly.
“Yes, Martina, commit to the watch and its power. Realize that it is the real thing and it is hypnotizing you. Indeed it is the real thing and hypnotizing you just like it had hypnotized Emily. You are being hypnotized just like Emily was say it.”
“Being hypnotized...like Emily was,” she slurred dreamily.
“I am now going to count backwards from 5 to zero and once I reach zero you will be hypnotized and under my control just like Emily was under the control of the shopkeeper. Understood?”
“Understood,” she slurred.
“Alright,” Michael said. “Five, four, three, two, one, zero.” At the last word Martina’s eyes shut and her head slumped forward. Michael smiled mischievously, Research and writing those psychology manuals really paid off. Now he had his favourite actress and islander in his power. He would have liked to take her then and there but it was getting dark, not to mention that public sex was illegal. He did have a plan though. “Martina,” he intoned. “I am going to give you instructions to carry out later. Listen carefully....”
3.
The fierce wind whipped through the air as Martina was strolling through the area. To be honest, she felt very weird doing so. She couldn’t put her finger on why, but she had the sudden urge to go out. It was cold so she put on a white long-sleeved dress, black tights and dress shoes (not to mention a spring jacket. She kept walking until she reached a cozy looking house she hadn’t seen before. To her surprise, she walked up to it and knocked on the door. A few seconds later Michael emerged.
“Michael, wow,” she said surprised. “Is this your house?”
“Indeed it is entranced Emily,” she intoned.
The last two words were her trigger. To Michael’s delight they worked. Martina’s eyes shut and she was now back in her trance. “Welcome to my home Emily.” With those words her eyes opened and she stared blankly at Michael. “How may I serve you Mr. Carson?” she asked.
“Come into my home dear Emily,” he said trying to make his voice sound quaint.” Michael was glad that his post-hypnotic suggestion was working. In this state she was not Martina Isaiah, but Emily Montgomery who had been hypnotized by the shopkeeper and ready to do his bidding.
“Now Emily take off your coat and shoes. Emily did so revealing some nice hosed legs.
“Very good, now lie on the couch so I can rub your legs.”
Michael escorted her to the couch, a big wide, green couch and had her lie down. Then he knelt down and stroked her tights-covered legs. He loved the feel of the fabric on his hands as he moved them up and down her hosiery. He then kissed the tights, getting the same feeling on his tongue.
“Now Emily,” Michael commanded. I want you to strip naked.”
“Yes Mr. Carson,” she said robotically. She then unzipped the back of her dress revealing a cute, white bra. She then removed the bra revealing small breasts—though Michael thought them quite endearing. Then she slid off her tights and had them the pool of clothes on the floor.
“Now Emily,” when I snap my fingers we will make ionate love. Understood.”
“Understood Mr. Carson,” she said. She was about to move towards him but stopped. “Wait... she said. This...isn’t right...I love Matthew....Can’t cheat on Matthew.” Michael was surprised at such resistance.
“Yes you can,” Michael retorted. “You can because I have commanded it and you are under my control.”
“No...” the woman said shaking her head. “Can’t cheat on Matthew...I love him.”
“Listen to me,” Michael intoned, getting annoyed. “You must make love to me because I am your master.”
“No...not if it means hurting Matthew,” she said.
Michael was about to scold her but then he realized what was going on. Martina truly was a good actress and since she thought she was Emily Montgomery and imitating her to a tee. She must think she was in the part of the episode where Matthew’s love helped break the shopkeeper’s spell. Therefore, Michael decided to pursue another track.
“Very well,” Michael said. “When I snap my fingers you will think I am Matthew Gilbert. You will want to shower my with affection.” Michael then snapped his fingers. Then Martina’s eyes lit up.
“Matthew,” she exclaimed joyfully. “It is so good to see you. I missed you so much! She ran into Michael’s arms (he was still fully clothed) and kissed him on the mouth. Michael kissed her back loving the feel of her lips on his. He then moved to her breasts and squeezed them. Martina giggled. “My, you sure are affectionate today.”
“I sure am,” he said truthfully. “I missed you just as much. Why don’t we catch up by making love on the couch?” “Making love on the couch?” she asked in confusion. “Do you mean have sexual intercourse?”
“Yes,” Matthew said tersely.
“Oh Matthew,” she said playfully. “I know you love me, but we can’t do that. We promised we would wait for marriage.”
“Oh right,” Michael said cursing inwardly. He had forgotten that the show took place during the first half of the twentieth century and that Emily had been raised by strict but loving Christian parents. Both characters promised to engage in chastity , which means that pre-marital sex was out of the question. Michael thought for a moment and realized it was useless to try to get her to have sex with him. In any event he cared for Martina and sex might just expose her to a difficult pregnancy anyway. There was also many other things they could do.
“Very well, Emily,” he said. “I’m sorry. It’s just that I have been missing you so badly and I wanted to get closer.”
“I understand that. Martina said. “Thank you for keeping your promise.”
“No problem Emily,” Michael said. “We can still do something romantic. Why don’t dance together?”
“I’d love that,” Martina said.
4.
Martina smiled as she entered her childhood home. Not only was she glad to see it, but she was entering with a great guest: Michael Slink. “Welcome to my home,” she said sweetly “be it ever so humble.”
“I think it’s quite cozy,” Michael said truthfully.
“I’m glad you like it. I can’t wait to introduce you to my parents.”
“I hope it goes well.”
“Me too,” Martina said. She then kissed him on the cheek.
Michael smiled. No he didn’t get to have sex with his crush like he’d hoped. He did, however, enjoy a nice sensuous dance, share a meal and play a couple of board games with her (after Martina had redressed of course). He had erased her memory of disrobing. He had also given her the post-hypnotic suggestion to fall in love with him and become boyfriend and girlfriend. Indeed, he implanted the idea that she had a crush on him too, but was never really able to act on it. Now she had decided to take her chance and introduce Michael to her family. Maybe she would even allow him to assist her with the new miniseries. He then heard key turn in the door. One of her family must be home. As he sat down in anticipation of a nice dinner he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. He didn’t only have an islander in his power: he also had this islander’s love. It seemed like something out of Emily of Avonlea. This was one time where it was truly wonderful that life imitated art.
