An Eldritch Pact

Chapter 13

By Nightfuel

Karl fucked Alisha for what felt like hours. Or it might have been hours. It was hard for Karl to tell; everything merged together into a decadently sensuous dance of flesh. He eventually must have carried Alisha into her bedroom from the kitchen. Karl didn’t recall doing so, but at some point he realised that the blonde woman was face down on a bed, her cries muffled by pink silk pillows as he slammed into her from behind.

Karl’s memories were disted, fragmented. It was hard for him to focus on any one thing. If he ed what he did with Alisha, it was in the nature of watching a slideshow. Alisha on all fours, her rounded ass rippling with every hard thrust. Alisha riding him, her face screwed up in terrible pleasure as she frantically bounced up and down. Alisha on her knees, her face reddening as she tried to relax enough for Karl to get all of his dick down her throat. Alisha, Alisha, Alisha …

Karl had felt possessed, unable to stop. He had been drifting in and out, the only constant and important thing in his world the feeling of pleasure — the feeling of power — that had been coursing through him. He had been tireless, a machine. Just like he had with Jessica, Karl hadn’t stopped even when Alisha had begged him to give her a moment to recover. Why would he? Just like with Jess, Alisha had soon started moaning again, her cries of pleasure filling her bedroom.

But now it was over. Alisha lay on her bed, loosely covered by a sheet, exhausted and asleep. Her hair was spilled out in a messy halo across the pillow, and her arms were untidily arranged about her. At the end she’d barely seemed to know her own name, just blinking owlishly up at Karl as he put her to bed.

Karl had sat on the edge of the bed for a while afterwards, just looking at Alisha. Asleep, she seemed younger, more innocent. He regarded her, thinking about what he had done. As soon as he had been alone with her, as soon as Kate had left, Karl hadn’t been able to stop himself. He’d been looking at and thinking about Alisha with only one thing on his mind. But … Karl hadn’t come here to do that. He felt confused, like he couldn’t square away his own priorities anymore. On top of that, Karl was now feeling a deep-seated exhaustion that had little to do with the physical exertions of having sex. His limbs felt weak, and his mind was beginning to fog as though he hadn’t slept in days.

Getting up silently from the bed so as not to wake Alisha, Karl got dressed. He could really do with a shower, but his rising sense of guilt was telling him to get out of the house. He’d just cheated on his girlfriend. Fantasies aside, whatever temptations had been thrown his way, Karl hadn’t really thought he’d go through with something like that.

I keep changing my mind on everything. Am I really that weak-willed?

Shaking his head, Karl exited Alisha’s bedroom, closing the door as quietly as he could behind him. He was going to leave as quickly as possible — Karl’s sense of exhaustion was growing by the second — but another hurdle came up.

Turning, Karl froze as he saw Alisha’s sister, Kate, sitting on the sofa in the living room. She was staring at him, and the longer she looked the redder her face was becoming.

Kate cleared her throat, putting an unconvincing smile on her face.

“Uh, Karl … hi?”

Karl’s mouth worked, but nothing came out at first. He felt like he had when he’d been a kid, getting caught sneaking out of his first girlfriend’s bedroom. He wondered at the look on Kate’s face — she’d practically shoved him and her sister together. Was she now having second thoughts?

“Oh, hey, Kate. When did you, uh, get back?”

Kate blushed harder, but she seemed to be beginning to relax. She leant forward, propping her head up with her hands.

“Going by the screams coming from my sister’s bedroom, about four orgasms back?”

Karl forced a laugh.

“Ah, sorry. I didn’t realise we were so loud.”

“You were and you weren’t.”

“What does that mean?”

Kate sat back, crossing her legs. She idly kicked with one foot as she regarded Karl.

“Well, you hear your sister screaming, you have to make sure she isn’t getting murdered, right? So I may have listened at the door. At least until I was certain that it was fun-time screams and not the other thing.”

“That’s … very dedicated of you.”

Kate’s lips quirked upwards, at odds to her pink face.

“What can I say? I love that silly, repressed woman. Although I guess she’s loosened up quite a bit by now, eh?”

“This is … a very odd conversation.”

Kate shrugged.

“That’s probably because I’m half cut. I had to pour myself a drink so I could deal with all the noise. Is Alisha asleep?”

“Yeah, she is. Couldn’t you have worn headphones or something?”

Kate folded her arms across her chest, looking embarrassed.

“I could have, but then I couldn’t check to see if she was alright.”

It was at this point that Karl finally started to pay attention. Thinking still felt like he was punching through fog, so he’d missed it at first. Kate was almost squirming on the sofa. She kept crossing and uncrossing her legs, and he could clearly see her nipples through the fabric of her shirt. Kate was glancing at him and then away — her eyes flickering up and down his body. Lingering. It wasn’t the look or actions of a woman who was just concerned about the wellbeing of her sister.

Oh fuck, it’s happening with her too. I … am I really the one doing this?

Karl felt like clutching at his head. It was so hard to focus. His limbs were leaden, and everything seemed to be coming from a long way away.

Karl forced a smile.

“Well sorry to put you through all that. But I really should get going.”

Kate got to her feet. She took a hesitant step towards him.

“You don’t have to leave on my . You could … stay? For a little bit at least. I could get you a drink, tell you more about Bracken Ridge?”

Karl licked his lips. He felt a strange surge within him, something that was pushing him towards Kate, but it was weak. For the first time, Karl recognised the sensation. It was akin to the driving force that had been tempting him with Jessica, Alisha, and Amanda … but it had no real potency. An ineffectual flailing at his back, attempting to thrust him towards the pixie-haired blonde. Strangely, it was its very weakness that let Karl feel it properly for the first time. It was strong enough for him to feel, but not strong enough to take over.

What the fuck — that’s not me! And if it’s not … what is it?

A surge of dread swept through Karl. There was a power here that he didn’t understand. Not even slightly. He’d only half expected things to work when he’d used it consciously the first time with Jess — and had afterwards been too excited about the possibilities to really delve into it. But now … had something been controlling him this whole time? And if it had, why would it be telling him to cheat on Jessica? What was the point of any of it?

Karl moved slightly to the side, towards the front door. Kate’s eyes tracked him intently, and he gave her a hesitant smile.

“Sorry. I’d love to, but I have to get going. I really shouldn’t stay out too —”

“Do you have to get home to your girlfriend?”

Karl froze. Kate was staring at him unblinking, her head cocked to the side.

I guess that answers the question about whether she knew I had a girlfriend or not.

“Kate, I —”

Kate took a step closer to him. She shook her head.

“You what? Don’t look so worried, Karl. Like I said before, I just want my sister to be able to relax, to have a good time. You wouldn’t fit with her long term. Although —”

Here Kate laughed, looking bemused.

“— that was before I heard what you were doing to her. So relax. I’m not going to say anything. And my sister knows that you aren’t single. Alisha’s the one who told me. If we don’t care, why should you?”

Karl took another step to the side, edging towards the door. That didn’t entirely track with what she had told him earlier — and he couldn’t help but note that she was including herself in the equation. Saying ‘we’ instead of just referring to Alisha.

“Look, Kate — I really have to get going. It’s getting late, and I —”

Kate folded her arms across her chest. She raised an eyebrow, a fey light in her eyes as she looked at him. Kate let out a laugh, light and carefree.

“Oh, don’t look like that. I’m hardly keeping you here, Karl. I just asked if you wanted to stay. If you have to go, you have to go.”

Karl smiled hesitantly at her, off-balance. But before he could say anything, Kate closed the gap between them. She put a hand on her chest, her palm flat, and she walked close — close enough that Karl could feel the heat from her body. Her eyes looked very bright as he looked down into her face, framed by her short blonde hair.

Kate spoke, her voice low. Almost husky.

“Don’t stay away too long though, Karl. I don’t want to see my sister getting mopey or sad. So … I better be seeing you again real soon. It will go so much better for all of us if we can all play … nice. Understand?”

That … didn’t sound right. Her words, her tone … the way her eyes were glittering. It didn’t gel to Karl’s ears. He edged around to the side of Kate, nodding.

“Yeah. Definitely, Kate. I’ll, uh, see you soon. Promise. But I really need to go, so …”

This time Kate didn’t say anything. She just watched Karl with a faint smile on her face. Watched him as he opened the door and left.

* * *

Karl took in a deep breath as he stood outside Alisha’s house. The sun was beginning to set, and the light was fading fast. He’d told Jess that he would be finished work in the early afternoon. Karl had to get moving.

He made it a few steps, and then he staggered, almost falling before he caught himself. Exhaustion hit him like a brick to the face, and it only seemed to be getting worse. It was so hard to think, so hard to concentrate. It was an effort, but he forced himself to stagger to his truck. When he got there, he just stared.

Someone had slashed all of his tires.

Karl regarded his truck for a long moment. Then he just turned and started walking. He didn’t feel like he had the capacity to deal with that at the moment.

Karl didn’t even the trip back to his uncle’s cabin. He just forced himself to put one foot in front of the other, moving in a slow and methodical walk. It was almost a surprise when he arrived. Karl felt nothing but relief as he approached the front door. All he wanted to do was eat something and go to sleep. He was too tired to even think about worries like who had slashed his tires or that he had just spent the last few hours cheating on his girlfriend.

Karl opened the door and stepped inside. As soon as he crossed he threshold he stumbled, a wave of vertigo hitting him. For a brief moment he felt re-energised … but then he felt something leave him and he almost dropped to the floor, his exhaustion hitting even harder than it had before.

So it was that Karl was standing just inside the entrance to the cabin, blinking in confusion, when Jessica came storming up.

“Karl! Where have you been?”

Karl squinted, clutching at a wall to steady himself.

“… what?”

“Where. Have. You. Been. Karl, you said you’d be done not long after lunch. It’s nighttime! And where’s the truck? I didn’t hear you drive up.”

Karl tried to look at his girlfriend’s face, but Jessica’s features swam and distorted. He managed to mumble, his words almost slurring.

“…ry. Lost track of time. Truck? Flat tire. Tires. I’ll … get it. Tomorrow.”

Karl let out a huge yawn, a act that seemed to incense his girlfriend. Jessica put her hands on her hips, looking incredulously up at Karl.

“Are you drunk? Is that where you’ve been? Out drinking?”

Karl shook his head, trying to smile.

“No, not drinking. Jess, I’m just tired. I was —”

Jessica took a step closer, lowering her voice and his at him.

“Karl. What we did this morning —”

Jessica’s face flushed red and she shivered slightly.

“— I wouldn’t do that with anyone. Even you! I don’t know why I … look, never mind. But that has to mean something to you, alright? You can’t just … do that to me and then disappear all fucking day!”

Karl felt a faint sense of guilt. But it was more like a memory of guilt, rather than the actual emotion.

“Jess, I didn’t disappear. I was at work. And I’m here now aren’t I? Look, can we talk tomorrow? I’m feeling so tired that I —”

Jessica stepped in closer, her expression changing. To Karl it looked like an unsettling mix between panic and rage. Jessica’s nostrils flared, and she poked him in the chest with a finger. Her voice was low, intense.

“Where have you been!? Karl, look at me! Were you — were you with someone?”

Jessica swallowed, trembling slightly as she looked up at him. Karl’s stomach sank, but in this he was aided by his fatigue. His face didn’t change in the slightest as he looked at Jess. He was too tired to react.

“No.”

Even though he was sure he hadn’t given anything away, Jess grabbed his arm — her fingers digging in painfully.

“You were, weren’t you! What, did you just run straight out of our bed and into someone else’s? Fucking me up the ass was just an appetiser for you? Did you even have work today, or was that just a lie?”

Karl shrugged his arm out of his girlfriend’s grip. He kept his voice soft, gentle.

“Jess, don’t say that. Of course I was at work. I have the paperwork I can show you if you don’t believe me — okay, it’s in the truck, but I can show you tomorrow. But right now I feel dead on my feet. Jess, please. We can talk about it tomorrow, as much as you want. Okay?”

Tomorrow. Karl felt like he could deal with all of this then. If he got some sleep everything would make sense. He could figure it all out. Figure out what was going on with him.

Jess slapped at his arm, but Karl barely felt it. She was saying something more, but it all faded away, becoming background noise. He could see her mouth moving, see the tears welling in her eyes. She was shouting, yelling at him. Hitting him again. Karl couldn’t feel it, couldn’t bring himself to react anymore. It was like it was all happening to someone else, all the noise becoming a muted, background hum.

Eventually Jess left, storming up the stairs. Karl watched her go, watched the point in which she disappeared from view. He stood there for a while — how long he didn’t know. Then Karl went in search of food.

Karl walked into the kitchen and mechanically got himself a glass of water. He drained it, and the two after that. Then he went to the fridge, opened it, and stared blankly inside. There wasn’t much there. Karl took out a pack of deli ham. He ripped it open and devoured it all with his hands, barely tasting it, just shovelling it into his mouth until it was all gone. Then he drank more water. Then he just stood in the kitchen, trying to muster up something resembling a thought. He stayed there, staring blankly at the sink, for a long time.

Karl next went upstairs, intending to use the bathroom. His bladder was screaming at him.

Jess was in their room with the door closed. She yelled at him from inside the bedroom, telling him he couldn’t come in. Karl ed then that she’d told him to sleep on the sofa. That she didn’t want to even look at him.

None of it seemed important.

Karl went back downstairs and into the living room. He stood in front of the fireplace for an interminable amount of time. Then he sat down on the sofa. He let himself fall to the side, drifting off to sleep pretty much instantly as soon as his head hit the cushion.

* * *

Movement woke Karl. He blinked, bleary eyed. The room was dark; he had no idea what time it was. He was still on the sofa, and the house was quiet. Eerily quiet.

Karl raised his head, groaning as his skull started to throb. He was still exhausted, his body feeling like it was made out of lead. Karl looked around, peering into the gloom, and then froze.

Sitting on the sofa, just by his feet, was Amanda. She was looking at him side-on, and her expression was cheery, an amused smile quirking her lips. The only clothing she had on was a pair of panties and a flannel shirt — the top half of it unbuttoned. The shirt was barely covering her rounded breasts and they threatened to spill out with every breath she took. She was leaning back, her bare legs crossed, and her pale skin seemed to glow in the dark room.

Karl just gaped, unable to look away. Unable to understand what she was doing here in his cabin so late at night.

Amanda reached over and put a hand on Karl’s ankle, squeezing it. Her smile widened, her eyes glinting a strange colour in the dim light.

“So. You’re finally awake. I’ve been waiting, Karl.”
